Lydia Caroline Reich Willingham Scott. The photo is lableled that this is William Rhodes Willingham, but due to the fact that he died before he was 40 I think that this must be Mr. Scott. Both individuals look to be older.

?Her father more than likely died before 1860. He was in the 1850 census but not found in 1860 or thereafter. Her mother (Sarah Elizabeth Wilson Reich Burns) did come at sometime to Wood County, Texas from Itawamba County, Mississippi and is living with William R. and Lydia Caroline Reich Willingham in 1880 as Elizabeth Burns. Apparently she remarried after the death of her first husband Richard R. Reich, and was once again a widow before the 1880 census was taken. In 1870 Lydia Caroline is living her father?s sister Melissa Elizabeth Reich Apel and her family in Wood County, Texas. Sisters? Malissa and Emeline are living with their grandparents, John and Lydia Reich.?

I have not been able to find Lydia Caroline, her sisters and parents in an 1860 Census. Were they on their way to Texas from Mississippi? Her father Richard Rhodes Reich has not been found in a census since 1850 and from the letter that Grandma Keesee wrote I believe that he died soon after the three girls were born and soon after is when they made the trip to Texas to be with Lydia?s grandparents, John P. and Lydia Reich.

She was about three raised by a aunt this took place in Burleson Co. near Caldwell. ?This would put Lydia Caroline?s father, Richard R. Reich dying before 1860 and all three girls being under 6 years of age. Lydia is found in the 1870 census living with her aunt, Melissa Elizabeth Apel, but this took place in Wood County, Texas and not Burleson County.? ?Lydia had a sister named Malissa and also and an Aunt Melissa.?
Lydia Caroline Wright ?Reich? born in 1854 died in 1938 ?April 6, 1937? in Jones Co. near Nugent. She also told about Grandpa coming from England Rhodes Willingham. ?McGregor Willingham had a brother William Rhodes Willingham and also his father and grandfather were named William Rhodes Willingham also. There have been references to three Willingham brothers coming from England but I have seen no proof of this.? They met in Burleson Co. near Caldwell. ?I believe that William R. Willingham and Lydia Caroline Reich met where they both resided in Wood County, Texas and moved together to Caldwell, Burleson County as a family after the 1880 census was taken.?
