      "Died on the 9th of February at the home of Captain Benedict Middleton in Westmoreland, Mrs Martha Lane, aged 78 years; she was a good christian, an affectionate wife, a tender mother, and a good mistress; and she was justly esteemed by all those of her acquaintance."

      TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye that I BENIDICK MIDDLETON of the Parish of Cople in County of Westmoreland and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and beare unto my beloved Son, BENIDICK MIDDLETON, have and for diver good and valuable causes and considerations me thereunto especially moving by these presents give and confirm unto my sd. Son, BENIDICK MIDDLETON and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten and for default of such heirs, I give and confirm unto my Son, WILLIAM MIDDLETON, and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten all that parcell of land and premises together with the appurtenances scitaute in the Parish and County aforesaid and containing One hundred fifty three acres and one hundred fifty eight perches of land and bounded; Beginning at a Locust Post the South West corner of the said MIDDLETONs Trackt and extending from thence North fourty five degrees East one hundred ninety four poles to a white Oak marked for a corner standing in the line that divides this Land from the Land of Mr. SAMUEL HEATH now in the tenure of STEPHEN BALEY and near BALEY's Dwelling House, thence South fourty five degs. East one hundred twenty seaven poles to the line that divides this Land from the Land of JOHN MIDDLETON. deced.. to a Stake near a red Oak saplin, thence South fourty five degs. West one hundred ninety four poles to the line of said MIDDLETONs Pattent to a Locust Stake, thence North fourty five degs. West along the line of the Pattent one hundred twenty seaven poles to the place it began, together with all houses, orchards profits and appurtenances to the same belonging; To have and to hold the One hundred and fifty three acres and one hundred fifty eight perches of land and premises unto said BENIDICK and the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten. to be held of the Chief Lord of the fees by the Rents and Services for the same due and accustomed to be paid; In Wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of August Anno Domini 1727

That this day being the Thirtieth day of August one thousand seaven hundred twenty and seaven BENIDICK MIDDLETON made Livery and Seizin of the within mentioned Lands and premises to BENIDICK MIDDLETON by delivering him Turff and Twigg and by delivering him the Ring of the Door of the Cheif Mansion House upon the within mentioend premises, in the name and in the token of livery and seisin of the whole Lands and premises within mentioned. in presence of

      Westmoreld. ss. At a Court held for the sd. County the 29th day of November 1727 BENEDICK MIDDLETON came into Court and personally acknowledged this Deed of Land by him passed to his Son, BENIDICK MIDDLETON, to be and enure to the uses therein menconed: together with the Livery of Seizin thereon endorsed; to be his proper act and deed and ELIZABETH, the Wife of the sd. BENIDICK, personally relinquished her Right of Dower and Thirds in and to the Lands by the sd, Deed menconed to be conveyed, all which at the motion of the tid.
